Middleware Policy

Last updated: 4 August 2026
Effective date: 1 August 2026

1. Overview

Cloud POS Middleware (“the App”) is a business utility for merchants using Cloud POS. It runs on an Android device at the store and:

  • connects the device to the merchant’s Cloud POS location,

  • discovers network printers on the local Wi‑Fi/LAN,

  • receives print jobs (receipts / kitchen tickets) and sends them to local printers.

The App is not a consumer social app. It does not create personal user accounts, and it is not intended to collect personal profiles of end customers for advertising.

2. No personal user accounts

The App does not:

  • require Google/Facebook or other social login,

  • register a personal email/password account inside the App,

  • build a personal profile of the device owner for marketing,

  • sell or rent personal data to third parties.

To use the App, a merchant enters a business / store code (tenant identifier) so the App can reach that merchant’s Cloud POS workspace. That code identifies the business, not a private consumer identity.

3. Information we process

3.1 Information entered or selected in the App (merchant / store setup)

Depending on use, the App may process:

  • Business code (tenant slug),

  • Location and POS device / terminal selected from the merchant’s Cloud POS data,

  • Printer settings such as printer IP address, port, paper size, and which terminal or kitchen department the printer is assigned to.

Printer configuration saved to the merchant’s Cloud POS backend so the same store setup can be restored. This is store/device configuration, not a personal consumer account.

3.2 Data stored only on the device (local)

To keep printing working while the cashier uses other apps, the App may store locally on the device (for example via on-device storage):

  • last selected business / location / device session,

  • last known printer mapping used by the print listener.

This local data stays on the device unless the user clears App data, uninstalls the App, or uses in-app reconfigure/reset. We do not use this local cache for advertising.

3.3 Print job content

When a sale is made in Cloud POS, the App may receive a print job (for example HTML for a receipt or kitchen ticket) over a real-time channel and forward it to a local printer.

  • Print content is processed to complete printing.

  • The App does not operate as a long-term personal document archive for end customers.

  • Print job delivery depends on the merchant’s Cloud POS system and the store network.

3.4 Local network printer discovery (performed on-device)

To help find printers, the App may:

  • read the device’s local network / Wi‑Fi state,

  • scan the local LAN subnet and/or use local network discovery (for example mDNS) for devices that appear to accept printing (commonly port 9100),

  • allow the merchant to enter a printer IP manually.

Important:

  • Network listing / scanning is done locally on the merchant’s premises network.

  • Discovered printer IPs are used only to configure printing for that store.

  • This scan is not used to track people, and it is not a map of personal contacts or GPS tracking of individuals.

  • The App does not upload a continuous feed of your full local network map for advertising or resale.

4. Permissions (Android)

The App may request permissions such as:

  • Internet / network state / Wi‑Fi state — to talk to Cloud POS and local printers,

  • Multicast / local network related access — to discover printers on the LAN,

  • Foreground service / notifications / wake lock — to keep the print listener running reliably in the background while the store is open,

  • Battery optimization exemption (optional) — so Android does not stop the listener aggressively.

These permissions support store printing, not ads or personal profiling.

5. How we use information

We use the information above only to:

  • connect the App to the correct merchant Cloud POS location/device,

  • configure and route prints to the correct printers,

  • keep the print listener running for the merchant’s operations,

  • troubleshoot technical issues when a merchant contacts support.

We do not use App data for personalized advertising.

6. Sharing of information

We do not sell personal information.

Information may be processed by:

  • Cloud POS / [Your Company] systems that host the merchant’s business workspace,

  • infrastructure providers needed to run the service (for example hosting and real-time messaging used to deliver print commands to the store device).

Those providers process data only as needed to operate the service for the merchant.

Local printer communication (IP/TCP to printers) happens on the merchant’s own local network.

7. Data retention

  • On-device session/config cache: until cleared, reconfigured, or the App is uninstalled.

  • Printer configuration on Cloud POS: retained according to the merchant’s Cloud POS account / business settings and applicable agreements.

  • Print jobs: handled for printing; not retained by the App as a personal consumer history product.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to a store printing utility. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Merchants should keep store devices, Wi‑Fi, and Cloud POS access under their control.

9. Children’s privacy

The App is intended for business / merchant use, not for children. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction).

10. Your choices

Merchants / operators can:

  • change or remove printer assignments in the App,

  • use Clear all & reconfigure (or equivalent) to reset local setup,

  • clear App storage or uninstall the App to remove on-device cache,

  • contact us to ask about printer configuration stored in their Cloud POS workspace.

11. International / business customers

If you use Cloud POS as a business customer, additional terms may apply under your Cloud POS merchant agreement. This Privacy Policy explains the Middleware App specifically for app-store disclosure.

12. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
